College Comparisons Decisions, Decisions. Everyone knows that the senior year of high school is the most exciting and stressful year of a teenagers life. We are all celebrating our achievements from the last twelve years of schooling especially from our toughest year, junior year. At our young age we have been unable to make any large decisions on our own. Our parents have always come to our verdicts for us. Not this year, we have to decide where we are going to college, what we want to focus in, and how we want to spend the rest of our lives. For me I have narrowed down my options to two schools; Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University. They both have their individual advantages and disadvantages. I am hoping that …show more content…
They both have a large number of majors for me to choose from. I have already been accepted to both schools. At both schools the average student to faculty ratio is 17:1. Michigan State is 105 years older than GVSU and it shows, MSU has much more character with its ivy covered halls. Grand Valley is also approximately four times smaller in acreage than MSU, and its undergraduate enrollment is about half that of Michigan State. Michigan State is by far the more expensive of the two school by roughly 5,700 a year. Allendale maybe just a little too close to home for my liking a 24 minute drive is not enough to deter me from coming home when I become home sick, at an hour and fifteen minutes away Michigan State is a better distance for me I think. Both have very good sports teams, however, I think I would prefer to be in a big 10 student section then being in a division two student section. I do have the potential to be in a living and learning community on either campus which is something I look forward to. I have been on both campuses and feel confident that I could call either campus my home for the next four years and

Although I have been an MU Tiger fan for years, my passion for Mizzou truly began when I attended the High School Mini Medical School for a week last summer. Living in the dorms, receiving hands-on training in several medical situations, as well as just getting a glimpse of what student life is like at MU was amazing. The beautiful campus, welcoming atmosphere, and everything that I learned regarding Mizzou while staying there only served to increase my desire to attend. The university offers me everything I am looking for in a college and more: an impressive nursing program, a large and diverse population of students, a phenomenal recreation center, and NCAA athletics to be involved in and excited about! Being from Kansas City, I also love…
