I feel senior workshop was one of my best workshop classes I’ve ever had. I liked how student driven this class was yet there was barely any days where we didn’t have anything to workshop. I find student driven classes have the ability to fail if not everyone is willing to participate, yet I didn’t see that in this class. When I first entered this class, I was hopeful and excited. I was doing my senior thesis at the same time which was a documentary so I thought contemporary media would be even better and help be refine my editing and filming techniques. The first few weeks of class we discussed making our own websites to use to network ourselves, which the idea seemed extremely practical, and I wanted to go into college ready with a network pitch. This class seemed like a class that would help me get my foot in the door, a class to teach me how to work in the media industry. Yet it seemed every week there would be an idea thrown out and we would work on it, then we would drop it for a new idea. I think the class needed a syllabus and some type of outline that gave it direction. I’m all for student driven classes but it soon turned into more of a study hall than a class for m I made sure to stick in it till at least second semester to give it an honest try but in the end I never got “into” the class.e. I finally decide to leave the class and transfer into senior seminar, which I feel like was a better fit for me. I don’t think this class was an awful class, it just wasn’t right for me
