To engage seniors, printed flyers got distributed and posted in the center and the community. In addition, we visited the center and personally presented the workshop while seniors attended other social activities in the center.
Each 2-hour-class included a 15 minute warm-up; then another 15 minutes on walking forward, backward, side-by-side, face-to-face, different timings, alone and with a partner, to practice balance, rhythm and synchronization. The rest of the time, …show more content…
We even had the privilege of being visited by Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez. She and other politician watched the class and even got to do a little dance at the end.

The Latin Dance Senior Swing Program culminated in a showcase event at the center where seniors had the opportunity to show off what they had learned to the invited guests. For this event we had band playing live music and two professional dancers as part of the entertainment. There were also Latin style hors devours, refreshments, and some souvenirs for the participants and other people who attended the event.
