At first glance high school just seems to be another part of school you have to go through, an insignificant phase in your life that you’ll breeze right through ,but then you actually go to your advisory and you get this sense of professionalism from the staff and teachers here and you feel the urge to feel and act professional to not seem immature. and to some it comes instantly ,that they are now in the final stages of their teenage life have now begun ,to others it comes later in their years. Unfortunately the realization had come later to me.

Looking back I was a clueless kid walking into a new world, I started high school. shooting blind. having no idea what was to become of me. Or what I wanted to do in life. Freshman year was a wake up call to get myself together and figure who I am in this world and what I can bring to it. I unfortunately did not get the message or at least I did not take note of what was needed from me. I didn’t treat my first year of high school with the utmost of importance, I slacked off, treated it as if it were just another phase of school I had to put myself through, obviously one of the worst mistakes of my life, but this was merely a step back, something that I can come back from and learn from to better myself in the future., because of this I grew a great deal my freshman year, I gained a sense of professionalism in ninth grade, I noticed that I was incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional with my work and in the class, but what I lacked in work habits I made up for in communication skills, My freshman year was full of group projects. Junior year had given me and as well as everyone else in my graduating class a taste of the real world and a lesson, that not everything is going to go your way whether you like it or not. My classes played a big role here, The classes that exposed me to the world where American Literature, United States history, and Model United Nations had all given assignments and lessons about what goes on in the world and the roles that we play in it. In my American Literature class we were tasked with several assignments that made us look at the world and history through the perspectives of others, one particular assignment was our american dream interview, we were tasked with interviewing someone we believe has a unique perspective of the “american dream”, I decided to interview my father because he witnessed the Cesar Chavez movement.
