High school, the time where everyday is an 8 am but you stay up like you don’t have class until 12 pm. Mainly, because you have some type of homework you have to finish. Maybe a writing assignment? I understand, when your favorite tv show is on , like American Horror Story or The Walking Dead, nothing else matters. But when it is time to pull out your computer and start working, what do you do? How do you even begin to write this assignment that’s due in a few hours?
I can’t answer what you would do, but I can tell you about one of my writing assignments that has really impacted my writing. The assignment I’m talking about is my Senior Research Project. This project was designed to teach high school students how to write a proper research

I wanted to show people that renewable energy can really have a positive impact on our lives and is worth the money.
My audience of crazy smart and intimidating panel of judges.
Last but not least I knew I was going to need A LOT of accurate research, which growing up with access to millions of documents online you would think it would be super easy getting this information, right? Well I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but it’s not as easy as you think. When you’re writing any type of paper you have to make sure that your sources are legible and unfortunately a prime example of an illegible site is wikipedia. Remember never use that site for information you never know who actually wrote the information for your topic. So to get the appropriate information I had to do month's worth of research to get all that I needed to construct my paper and with each article I read I had to summarize it in my notebook so when the time came to write the paper my information was right there already in my words. Even though this took a long time I actually enjoyed doing this

I realized that even though it was hard it was going to help me with my future assignments, it helped me learn about a new type of writing, and my own writing techniques. This being said, I learned that I have to create an outline for myself whenever I’m writing anything longer than a page and reread my paper to look for errors. I learned that a science research paper is completely different then an english research paper, because of the tone that you use when you are writing to your audience. When I’m writing a English research paper it’s mostly my interpretation of a book or multiple poems and sometimes a bit of background information about an author or time period. However, for a Science research paper you need actual data and evidence you can’t go off of your own thought or interpretation. For a english paper you are looking for evidence and data to construct your paper, but it’s not experimental based like a science research paper is. Although, they both have the same title and similar tasks involved in completing them mixing up how to construct the two could leave you in a low

With only months left before graduation, does every senior flip into another mode? The mode where high school really isn’t at the top of seniors’ priorities is often called senioritis. Senioritis is characterized by a lack of motivation and a decline in performance in the last weeks of a student’s high school career. Many think that senioritis just descends upon a select number of seniors, but in reality the thought of skipping class and homework crosses the mind of every senior. Senioritis is different in all seniors based on the attitude and work ethic they have towards school.…

This class has taught me to write better, but I won't miss having to write papers next semester. They aren't my strong suit. I'm excited for a new schedule and classes next semester as well.…

This topic is not an unusual topic. In fact, this is a topic that will help me decide on what college I will go to and attend in my future. My topic is The Citadel military College of the South or its only other competitor Norwich University. It does not necessarily matter where I attend school because no matter where I go I will be enrolled in the ROTC program at either school. In this research paper the items that I will be talking about are things that I have learned from either being talked to about or that I have read online about the colleges.…

The first step in writing the upcoming article is to choose a topic that you feel passionate about. The author should consider their own likes and dislikes to help alleviate the stress and worry over what they decide to choose, keeping in mind that the main goal is to keep the audience engaged throughout the entire article. However, there are times when more research is needed on certain topics than others. Using the internet, books and other articles to help you do more in depth research will help make the article more appealing to the audience.…

From the time a five-year-old steps into their first day of kindergarten till the day they graduate from college, they will hear “you are our future, our next generation, the people who will change things” from elder ones. If the next generation is our future, would that consider a senior in high school to be more valuable than a senior in college in society? If the new generation will bring more excellence, knowledge, and a different outlook to the way things are to insure a better tomorrow, the youngest would hold the most worth. In high school, seniors are the ones who rule the school, and is believed that they will be our next line of doctors who will find a cure for cancer or save our planet from global warming.…

It was an extremely easy choice for me when we were told to pick our topic for the senior project. I immediately decided that I wanted to focus on the injustice that the elderly have been experiencing for quite some time now concerning depression and other mental illnesses. Researching and studying the causes and effects that elderly depression can have has truly been an eye opening experience. It has been fascinating seeing why psychologists and therapists have generally been glazing over the growing problem that is elderly depression. My path for this project has been a relatively smooth one.…

Looking back, I realized that high school wasn’t as bad as I thought. Sure I had really bad days, but all of the good ones made up for it. I did Polynesian Club for two years; my freshman year and my senior year. I regret not dancing throughout high school, but I’m glad I still got to do it my senior year. It was mostly because I was already involved with theatre.…

I have always struggled with writing essays and they’ve never come easily to me. I used to sit in my room, in the middle of the night, just staring at a screen, for what would feel like hours. Wondering, “When am I going to finish this paper, or even, start it?” The writing process is lengthy and has many steps, such as reading, brainstorming, creating an outline and a rough draft, editing, and finally having a final draft. These steps can help anyone write a decent and fully developed paper.…

As with any other assignment, there are many obstacles in writing an academic writing. The “Research Paper” is not an exception. One of the greatest key challenges for me would be locating all sources, and incorporating them in my paper, without losing the initial message of the author. Another key challenge is time management. Besides this paper, I would need to distribute my time to my other 3 classes at the college, everyday church activities, housework and my sick grandma.…

English Composition I taught me a lot about myself, including how to be a better college student, through the process of writing. At the beginning of the year, I was not very excited about having to write argumentative papers. This is because I did not care enough about the assigned topics to have an opinion. But, I did learn a lot that I would not have known otherwise from having to research information about the topics I chose to write about. For example, in paper #2, I wrote about the niqab and how I believe that it is oppressive to women.…
