Callie began her employment on September 30, 2013, a year after Erika started. However, due to changes in the pay scale, Callie is currently making $21.84, a full $1.99 more than Erika. Once again, this is a comparable situation where the daily duties and responsibilities Erika handles each day effects all bureaus within the agency, while Callie’s duties primary impact the Communication Bureau. Sadly, an income disparity exists as Callie is compensated at a higher rate.
While it is impractical and unproductive to attempt to determine which employee has the most demanding duties or which duties have the greatest impact throughout the agency, the crucial and fundamental fact is that an income disparity has been created and the Sheriff’s Office has an obligation to rectify this disparity. This income disparity will only be magnified by through time if the Sheriff’s Office fails to take steps to rectify and resolve the issue.
To rectify this salary inequality, I recommend, through consultation with Sheriff Hayden, Kent Brown and County Budget that Erika’s salary be raised to
