Students were random allocation for six people each group. Fortunately, we had a great teamwork together. We all showed up every classes, shared our idea while meeting, and we separated works as our willing. Finally, we put them together, and done a wonderful presentation. I was not only got a high mark on it, but also I learned some communication skills from others. That was the first teamwork I had in Canada, and I really enjoy it.

Working in groups can be verily problematic, especially if everyone has contradicting ideas. By applying teamwork it's effortless to incorporate everyone's suggestions into the project and get things done more fluently. I’m so glad that working together in my stunt group and with my entire squad has taught be so much about teamwork because without it I wouldn’t be as advantageous in school as I am now. In…

Both my partner and I decided it would be better if we assigned roles and split up the research, as we both excelled at independent work. Afterward, we collaborated by editing the other person’s work and creating the presentation, which proves that you can be a team, even if the work is completed…

I was very happy when we came together as a group because I’ve never been in a group with any of these people before and I was excited to work with them. One of the strengths from our group’s presentation was that we all included lots of helpful information on PTSD on our respective slides, which will hopefully teach the class something about the mental illness. Another strength of our presentation was how it looked. Kristina and I spent lots of time going over the aesthetic of the entire presentation to make sure every slide matched (ex: using the same font and colours).…

For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…

When I participated in the Big Idea Project with my team, we created the Warm Nights Project. It was amazing to see the impact we could make with something that started out on a piece of paper. The main goal was to collect clothes and sleeping bags for the homeless population in Denver. From this experience, I learned what it sincerely means to be a generous leader. By being a generous leader, I set aside my own needs to take the initiative and make a positive change in the community.…

Collaboration has played a major role both personally and for my community. My first experience with collaborations is when I joined a FIRST robotics team. As you can imagine, I had to work with teammates of every kind in order to produce a final product. However, the more I became involved with the team, the more I started working with people outside the team. For example, the team and I started several new fund raisers that helped promote community collaboration.…

Teamwork in this particular task was straightforward and we had no problems in terms of participation and contribution. Having said that there was also no 'social loafing ' within my team, as Latane et al., 1979 argued was a problem in teams, whereby people were louder individually than they were in groups (chapter 6, pg. 180). Rather I felt that everyone had an equal…

I have experienced both exceptional and terrible teams. The most profound group/team example I have experienced was during boot camp. To provide background and context, here was the situation. Members of my platoon were all transferred from our first assigned platoon to an overflow platoon, created to decrease overall group size. Amusingly, because everyone was selected alphabetically, the last name closest to the beginning of the alphabet started with R. Because this happened after the first week all the bonds that we had formed with our first platoon were broken, and we were nicknamed the bastard platoon.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Collaboration can be extremely fruitful when the environment is flexible, open-minded, constructive, and the team has clear goals. Working on a team involved identifying roles for each member based upon our strengths. Early on in the capstone class, my group attempted to fit each member into arbitrary, rotating roles in order to complete our requirements. The first semester revealed conflicts of work methods and styles. Our communication was poor and workload uneven.…

Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

Apparently, the interactive nature of a knowledgebased society and a knowledge-based economy mandates the ability to collaborate. “Those who have successfully created cultures of innovation and creativity suggest that one key is to… embrace participation, collaboration, networking…” Collaboration and teamwork is such a key element to many aspects of life - it appears everywhere, and this skill comes in handy later in life in many situations, maybe even tomorrow. It took me a slight bit of willingness to give collaboration and teamwork a shot and understand what is behind it, it’s not just wanted or unwanted socialization, like I thought before, it might be the key to building a business empire, for all I can know. In the modern age, when a lot of the things are already invented, it’s hard to come up with something new on your own. It’s the innovation that rarely takes place in just one head.…
