In Texas the qualifications are divided into two segments which include formal and informal qualifications. Formal qualifications for those who want to be part of the House of Representatives need to be a minimum of 21 years old, local resident of the geographical era that that they are elected for, for a minimum of one year, they must also be a registered voter and lastly a valid resident of the state for a minimum of two years. Former qualifications for those who want to be part of the senate involve a specific age, most specifically 26 years of age, local resident of the geographical era that that they are elected for, for a minimum of one year and must be registered voter for a total of five years.
