• 6-INQ.C1: Introduce the basic components of a Socratic Seminars using topics based on student interest, in this lesson.
• Essential Question: “How are Socratic Seminars similar to AVID tutorials?”
• Student Objective: Reflect on the Socratic Seminar process, their experience participating in the Socratic Seminar, and the personal and group skills used in the activity.

The AVID Weekly Articles are new tools that I have added to my teacher tool box. The video of AVID students at VMS who are participating in the Socratic Seminar will show that they will be ready to integrate technology into their future lessons. I would like see my AVID students’ progress to the next level by integrating technology into Socratic Seminars. A videoconference Socratic Seminar with another AVID class from another school would be an ideal goal for the …show more content…
Recently, I took forty-five students to the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando, FL. VMS Beta Club brought back some serious hardware! Beta Club is the largest student club at VMS. These students are very academic, goal and service oriented. They are on fire! I always make it a point to chaperon and/or attend their bake sale, chili cook-off, dances, spaghetti dinner, and silent auction. I whole heartily support school initiatives! This year I have chaperoned VMS students who met their AR goal on two field trips. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t roller skate better than me or beat me at Laser Tag on the last AR Trip. There are times when my colleagues who coach a sport need support at a game and I am always there to serve. During VMS Winter Assembly, I was part of the teacher team that WON! I was third in Front of the Sleigh and Back of the Sleigh, and the Hula Hoop
