On the day of the lab, step one required all participants were to measure the gum’s mass along with it’s wrapper (Bubble Gum “A Real Sugar High”, n.a.). In our lab I was investigating: Does the height you drop the ball affect how it will bounce? When we were doing this lab person #1 held the meter stick, and person #2 held the bouncy ball when person #3 was ready to record the height the ball bounced person #2 dropped the bouncy ball and told the height the ball was dropped and the height the ball went to. Our materials were 3 people, a meter stick, pencil and paper, and a bouncy ball. These include, event to event weather conditions impacting the motion of the bottle rocket in the the x and z planes. This therefore potentially resulting in an effect on the motion of the bottle and the height data recorded at an unknown level; as opposed to that in theoretical conditions. Moreover, incorrect initial scaling of length measurement on the data analysis soft-wear, could have resulted in incorrect heights being deemed to have been reached by the bottle rocket. The nature of the freeze frame data analyzation on Pasco also resulted in time recordings that had slight discrepancies of maximum 0.033 seconds with one another, thus meaning that the variable of time was strictly not controlled within the experiment. The purpose of this lab is to practice different scientific methods, practice making different observations, and observe chemical and physical changes. What we did was measure out 4 grams of the powder and same with the little ball shaped chemicals that were solid. The trials were used to show how soap can change the droplets that could be held on the penny. The results of the trial helped me see what happened when I added soap to the water. It tells me whether my hypothesis was correct when I tested it and whether the results can prove my point. After analyzing the data, my hypothesis was correct. I was able to see a trend that the penny was able to hold 40+ droplets of tap water each time, but there were some exceptions, while the penny was able to hold 10+ drops each time.…
This is because glycerin will prevent the snow from falling rapidly as it is a ‘thick’ fluid. In other words, it has a high viscosity, but water has a low viscosity (low thickness), thus glycerin will thicken the water (changes the water). Therefore, this mixture of liquids inside the beaker decelerates the snow because the gravity is pulling it down.
