Surprisingly, this practice of not filling prescription is actually both illegal and legal. There’s a big controversy surrounding this matter. Many pharmacists and politicians argue over the matter if it’s legal or illegal. One of the main reasons, most pharmacists don’t fill their prescription is because of religions and ethics that doesn’t allow prescriptions. Like one of the cases about this was in Texas, a Texan pharmacists refused to fill up a prescription for a morning-after pill due to his religion.

Some medications might be discontinued. But in the documents “(a) A pharmacist or device and medical equipment dispenser shall have a right to refuse to fill or refill a prescription order if doing so would be contrary to his or her professional judgment.”(SECTION .1800 - PRESCRIPTIONS). Legally, the pharmacists has the rights to denied the refill of anyone’s prescription due on their professional judgment not being based on their biased opinions. A lady who went to her CVS pharmacy wanted a prescription for her mental illness, but was rejected. But she had saw other people who needed the same exact medication get their doses. This was an act of discrimination towards the disabled
