S- Discuss your SUBJECTIVE feelings for this week:
It wasn’t my best week physically. I was emotionally and physically drained. I have had breast biopsies in the past but this one really hurt. I was in a lot more pain than I expected but had to put the pain aside when I was in clinicals. I was not proud that I couldn’t lift anything heavy and had to ask for help with moving patients. I couldn’t risk a hematoma like I had the last biopsy so I chose to be more cautious this time. I could have called in sick on Thursday but I didn’t want to miss out on anything in clinicals.
O - Discuss an OBJECTIVE summary of interventions and skills you performed this week:
I administered oral and IV medications to various patients. I discontinued a Foley catheter without causing discomfort to the patient. I provided comfort to an elderly patient who was upset being in a room with a disruptive and aggravated patient next to her. I observed how a dressing was changed and wound vac replaced. I withdrew fifty milliliters of blood from a central line into a syringe for a radioactive scan test that would be performed within twenty- four hours. I assessed the dialysis patient’s arm for a bruit. I administered a blood transfusion twice to a patient who needed it. I observed and took vital signs during and after the process to carefully watch for signs of blood

I am getting more comfortable in the med surg setting and establishing relationships with the staff on the unit. I think I established really good relationships with patients which benefits them in their treatment. Patients are more willing to accept treatment and adhere to care plans if they trust you. I think I showed a little more confidence in myself in front of the patients and staff this week because the more I repeat skills the better I get at doing

    1. How are you doing on your plan? I would say my self confidence has improved. I have performed well when given a blank treatment plan and needing to come up with one on the spot when treating a patient for the first time. I have learned to just my "gut instinct" when it comes to therapeutic exercises or activities, because when I second guess myself it causes me to lose confidence in myself. At the end of each day, we (me and whichever OT I am with that day) digest how the day went, the session, and what can we do next and so far I've been told my self confidence level has improved and I am doing a great job with setting up treatment plans for patients.…

In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…

Self- Report Measure Before taking this class I had a very narrow idea of what a self- report survey was from introduction classes. I had no idea that there were strengths and weaknesses of a survey or what one looked like. After taking this survey and seeing the results I could see the strengths and weaknesses that are used in the self-report measure. Also after seeing the results I could see how some people would be afraid to answer truthfully if it were to be used for official police data compared to a different survey. In this paper im going to discuss what I feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the self-report measure, compare the self-report versus official police data, look to see if one data source is better than the other, if…
