Narrative Self-Reflection Throughout GSW 1120 we practiced writing to different audiences compared to GSW 1020 and I could really feel the sense of the shift. The research essay was definitely the turning point where I noticed the biggest change, and I think this was because it’s an argumentative essay and that is where I feel like I excel the most. Counter arguing I would say is a weak spot in my writing. While I am writing a counter argument, for some reason I forget to include what I have to say and sometimes only state facts against my consensus. I feel like most of my topics and consensus were pretty well liked and widely know for example the standardized testing problems in the United States. When picking a central topic for essays I …show more content…
During high school I never took a class on writing and wasn’t in any honor classes where you had to write essays so until GSW at Bowling Green. In GSW 1100 I didn’t really improve in my planning, prewriting, or drafting and my professor didn’t care much about the draft, all he cared about was the final essay so every time I just waited till the last second and wrote the final essay and turned it in without and revisions. Starting GSW 1120 I started to revise and proofread my papers more and I can see a big improvement in them. I will use these personal processes I have started to use in future essays I will write and prepare for. This semester I really haven’t focused on the conventions of writing such as boundary problems, grammar, and mechanics because I believe I have a good knowledge of addressing these problems before finishing the final essay. The main thing I struggle with would be grammar but because we use the computer for everything these days it doesn’t show because of autocorrect. Other than that I feel like my writing skills are where they should be at this moment in time and looking forward to making them throughout my

Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. Although I gained much knowledge over the past few months I did struggle with a few things such as formulating a written thesis statement expressing my main point in the composition, producing rough drafts preliminary to the final draft, applying transition strategies to organize the entire composition cohesively and coherently, and overall practicing various prewriting strategies, such as thinking, brainstorming, listing, and freewriting.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

I first became interested in counseling when I was helping a friend with serious drug related problems and family problems seek help and counsel from advisors. Being just sixteen, I didn’t know how to help him efficiently and felt both powerless and helpless at trying to find adequate resources and services to help him deal with his problems. While I did eventually find counseling services and potential help for him, the effects of his psychological problems were so brutal that he committed suicide. This profound experience of losing a close friend to suicide forced me to develop a strong interest into understanding the role, guidance and motivations that leads people to such extremes. At this point, I had already cultivated the desire to…

I’ve only written a personal narrative essay, I haven’t made a decent writing process yet. I also let a few of my friends read my paper and help me make corrections on Google Docs. On an estimate, I probably spent around 1-2 hours daily, typing and revising my paper in my dorm. Like I stated before, I currently just write whatever comes to mind and then revise it later.…

I’ve chosen to focus on “Exploration and Argumentation” as the subject of this reflective introduction, specifically looking at my argument paper, “Abortion: Right or Wrong?” as a reference to the importance of this learning outcome. I chose to focus on this particular learning outcome because it was the most difficult essay for me to create. While writing this essay it was difficult for me to understand and reciprocate the opposing viewpoint. Understanding an unfamiliar idea and giving ideas for or against a topic is key to creating a fluent argumentative essay.…

Many people probably think they have certain personality strengths until they take an assessment to see what they actually are. I recently took a personality assessment utilizing the DISC method of scoring to see what my more dominant personality traits were.
