The above assimilates different needs required of my relational capacity in different nursing environment. Along the journey, there are factors (Orange signs – left blank because they are always changing with goals and strategies) that are going to influence my ways of being and requires that I make adjustments, reflect on who I am, understand what is working and not working and what I need to understand about myself to ensure I am safely and ethical relating to myself and others within a changing and often very challenging environment. In my nursing practice, I focused on developing my relational capacities with myself and others through goal setting and formulating strategies for success. Climbing mountains requires the same fundamental concepts to safely reach the peak (goal). My relational goals were to improve my overall confidence through communication, recognize and set boundaries, and work positively through conflict with others. It also helps to understand how previous experiences give way to new understanding, new beliefs, new values and new ways of approaching challenges. There are four routes to climb my mountain. These routes represent the paths in which I work through my goals. Some routes I will need lots of support (gear and equipment), some will take a long to climb, some will easy and take a short amount of time and others will be a vertical learning curve that requires strong mental and physical
