Evaluation of Learning Plan
The learning goals and objectives that I set for myself throughout this course and for the health fair are outlined in Appendix A. My main goal was to use the teaching learning theories that I have learned from this course to increase the knowledge of 75% of post-secondary education who attended the health fair on the impact of sleep and stress on health. Furthermore, I would help participant to identify ways that they can adopt healthy sleep patterns and stress management technique. As outline in Appendix A, my objectives are the following:
• To have 75% of students that attend the health fair understand stress and improve their sleep habits
• To critically apply …show more content…
Also, using Albert Bandura’s social cognitive model as a guide when teaching, I will provide the information in a clear way while giving participants the chance to practice the skill in anyway possible. For example: When presenting the issue of stress, I can make the stress experience real by asking participants to count backwards as quickly as they can from 100 in increments of 7, and get them to imagine that they are asked to perform this task in front of a huge crowd. Finally, I will get them to think about some strategies that they can use to reduce the stress they feel from this exercise in the future (e.g. practicing ahead of time may help reduce their stress). Furthermore, I will use behavioral techniques of providing rewards to motivate learners to be engaged in their learning. Also, it is important to follow up every teaching with an evaluation, to address any concerns, or to understand what each learner have learned and then revise the teaching plan as needed. The most significant concept that I have learned about myself as a learner is that I am more engaged and motivated to learn when I can relate to the topic or concept that is being taught. For instance, I feel very engaged or motivated to learn because my professor Celina De Silva tries to relates the concepts to everyday life/terms. This will impact my future practice because I will use all these skills I have learned from this course in my future practice. More specifically, I will apply the Bandura’s Social Cognitive theory to my practice to improve the learners’ experience and use the Behavioral theory to provide rewards. I will engage learners in a way that they can relate to the concepts that is being taught, through the provision of real life examples that they can relate
