With regards to my participation and contributions I made throughout this topic I believe I should receive 74% or a high credit. This grade reflects that I responded to each and every question as part of the FLO activities, occasionally provided other references beyond the required readings and posted some questions for consideration and read many of the responses by other students (except those that were posted later on a Wednesday). I also endeavoured, time permitting, to read other relevant information listed on FLO and watched all the Insight videos and further explored the Romanian orphanage issues, which I found extremely difficult to watch and comprehend. Before both quizzes I reviewed the PowerPoint slides from the lectures and reread my lecture and readings notes. I really enjoyed listening to the lectures, as this was the first subject I have taken that has offered this to external students. Hearing people with lived experience provided invaluable insight and perspective and it gave me information and knowledge that I could then use to enhance the support I provide to the students and families I work with. I was able to provide the parents with relevant information about the positive lives and experiences enjoyed by people with an intellectual disability. I felt for Tim and was infuriated with the treatment he had received in the workplace but I also admire his self-advocacy skills and ability to stand up for himself. I also enjoyed listening to Fiona Rittola and the guest lecturers discuss their experiences and passion for working with people with an intellectual disability, as it provides a positive foundation and the necessary enthusiasm that all people who work and support those with
