One prime example of this type of self-presentation can be seen in the military. Drill Instructors react in a strikingly similar way to when young recruits make mistakes. Yelling, invading personal space, verbal threats, and aggressive posturing are often used as a way to show the recruit who is in charge. Much like the lion pride, these actions reinforce a hierarchal structure the recruits must abide by if they plan to succeed. Aside from the social similarities of personal encounters, there are also similarities in the way different groups interact with one another.
