Photography has been my passion for a few years now, and I love the artistic representation that photography has to offer, including that of self-portraiture. I found the article Reflections on Self-Portraiture in Photography by Ina Loewenberg an interesting read and think the author has valid points throughout.
The article states “We understand a portrait in any medium to be an artist’s interpretive rendering of the “subject” while a self-portrait is an artist’s presentation of self”(Loewenberg, 1999). I agree and I feel that a self-portrait is a great way to express his or herself through their own interpretation, furthermore, I believe that a person can see themselves completely different than others view them.
