I understand that there are many reasons for people to infract the academic honest criterion and people might use them as excuses for infraction. However, those excuses actually reveal the immoralities when copying others’ work. For example, self-plagiarism is an appearance of sloth. Some students commit self-plagiarism because of the similarities between their new assignments and previous assignments, which means that they refuse to put work effort for the similar assignments because of their spiritual laziness. Greed can also result in dishonest academic behaviors. It is understandable that every students demands higher GPA, however when a greedy mind takes over, some students choose to steal others’ intellectual property in order to accomplish their ego needs. The world will stop generating because no one will originate new ideas and people will become brainless because no one will even bother to think. Things like this better never happen, it is already scary enough to just imagine a world like this. Thus, as students it is our responsibilities to work on our own and to give credits to original authors when we really need to their ideas to insist our writings.
