It is hard to participate when a group is not motivated to do any of the work. I have had experience where I was part of a group who was un motivated to do anything for a semester long project. In the end it led to us receiving a C and not getting a great grade in the class. In this situation I took the wrong approach and instead of setting goals week by week I just talked to them about what needed to be completed. I learned that you can not only suggest or ask someone to do something, but you need to tell them to do it and give a deadline. I care so deeply about everyone and everything I am doing that it bothers me when someone is upset or work is not getting done to the best of its ability. I put my whole heart into the group because I want it to succeed. I want everyone to be happy, involved and satisfied by the process we are taking. Decision making is what makes a group work. The process of deciding what to do, can raise emotions, show personalities, decide on the motivation level going into the situation and identify values. It is important for a leader of a group to act as a follower when deciding the best choice so everyone feels as though they are involved. As a decision maker myself I think about the pros, cons, benefits and consequences. How is this decision going to affect the people I am working with, or those around me?
