Self Evaluation Stage Analysis

I have chosen the evaluating stage because I see that there can be room for improvement at any age of life.

First of all, when I worked in the Navy and worked as a military Police Officer. I was approached by a person, lets call that person Jane, in order to not reveal the person real name. Jane, story commenced like this, she stated that on a Saturday she was physically assaulted by her boyfriend (let name him Tom) at her boyfriend’s apartment. Jane appeared bruised, on her neck, face, arms, and on her back according to the medical doctors who examined her upon acknowledging what took place. My supervisor Ken, informed me at this time, considering the nature of sensitivity of this particular case, that he and his boss will be taking over

A short time had pass since Jane was sent to seek medical attention. Ken and his boss were brainstorming, discussing how did the bruises came about on her body, and if any struggle took place. After two hours or so, Jane returned to the office and asked for Ken. For the special sensitivity of this case, Ken boss decided to ask Jane several questions, that was documented inside the office and meanwhile four other military police officers were present, 3 male and one female. “Listening is probably the least explicit of the four language skills, making it the most difficult skill to learn.” Vandergrift, L. (2004).
According to Jane, she informed Ken, that she was in her boyfriend’s apartment drinking beer and alcohol during that night. Jane mentioned that Tom got violent and started groping her and took advantage of her. Jane appeared very convincing while she told her side of her story and she looked at Ken straight in his eyes without any hesitation. During the time Jane was being questioned, Tom was called and informed to report to the military police office with his

The command which Tom was presently working at had sufficient testimony from Jane to prosecute Tom for rape, and assault. For sure I thought that Tom was going to be charged considering Jane written confession in this matter.
Suddenly during the course of the investigation, Tom gathered three witnesses that traveled to the command to testify in writing. That Tom and they were with in another state, during the time Jane confessed to Ken about being assaulted. This is where the evaluating stage in my eyes took place. The two guys and one girl mentioned that Jane was not even with them and didn’t even know her at all.“ In addition, listening is a deliberate act that requires a conscious commitment from the listener.” Shipley, S. D. (2010).
This is where the case started giving a twist and the entire military police department had a rude awakening. Jane was questioned (drilled) heavily, numerous times by different senior military police investigators used critical thinking techniques and she did not change her

“Working Toward the Truth in Officer-Involved Shootings- Memory, Stress, and Time” is also written by Geoffrey P. Albert but as well as John Rivera, and Leon Lott. The authors went about the same subject but from a different angle. The focus of the discourse is significantly based on how trauma and high emotional experiences in general severely impact one’s memory and their perception of an event. There are countless factors that should come into play when determining the accuracy of such traumatic events. This is vital information because investigators and other police staff underestimate the toll these POIs take on the minds and memories of those involved.…

Studying obedience to authority most often reveals human nature repugnantly; however, it teaches society their individual capability thus they can prevent unethical actions. In “The Abu Ghraib Prison Scandal: Sources of Sadism,” Marianna Szegedy-Maszak writes about the unethical treatment and results of American guards physically violating the Iraqi prisoners. The guards with authority over the criminals were charged for “crimes against humanity” (Szegedy-Maszak 75). The author analyzes why the guards preceded to conduct in this manner and concludes that they had an excessive amount of stress from their duties and lacked a release for that stress. It is imperative to speak with professionals in the criminal justice department as it is one of the avenues of learning. Learning is not always from books, but sometimes from observation and even questionings. For this purpose an interview was conducted between myself and an attorney who deals with domestic violence. Although it is a difficult subject, listening to them speak allowed me to realize another importance. That was being present in a courtroom to help filter any other information that would have been missed.…

The purpose of this literature review is to review the effectiveness of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM or CISD) system as described by authors such as Everly and Mitchell (1999). The review specifically looks at Police Officers who have been involved in Officer Involved Shooting (OIS). When examining CISD is simply psychological first-aid done in a peer-to peer group typically within the first 24 to 72 hours of an incident.
