Self-evaluation
Speech video is a significant tool to judge and evaluate the performance of speech. After watching my speech video carefully, I found several ways that I could improve in the future.
My initial response to seeing myself is really awkward because I thought my performance was poor at my speech day and I do not want to recall about that. After watching it, I felt it was even worse than I expected. I understand that facing up my weak point is important to improve in the future; thus, I still watched it completely and evaluated myself although I was really reluctant to do this.
The most obvious problem in my speech was that my language was not fluent at all, which sounded like I did not prepare enough. Actually, I spent plenty of

I had a clear thesis and stated it at the introduction. The introduction was excellent, which started with a story about the open-crotch pants, and it hooked my audiences successfully. The body paragraphs also were very good, which maintained enough details and a clear structure. The conclusion only had three sentences, which sounded a little weak. Also, I liked the visual aid that I made, which exhibited some cultural products directly that I mentioned in my speech; moreover, some pictures in the slideshow made people laughed, which is an important signal for me to know the success of this slideshow.
If I could do the speech again, I would improve me improve the fluency as much as I can. I would practice much more than this time. I would try to be more calm when I delivery speech next time. I would make my oral English sound better, and I also would write a better conclusion.
Although I am unsatisfied with my performance, this speech helps me a lot in some ways, which indicated my weak points such as English ability, eye contacts, nervousness and so on. Finding out my limits is so valuable for me and my future college life. I am going to improving my public speaking skills as soon as

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

More or less, I got the reaction I wanted from the audience. I felt like it was not so boring that I lost anyone, and I definitely got a couple laughs at some of the jokes I tried. If I were to rewrite or perform my speech again, I’d probably do a few things differently. The main thing I’d do differently, would be to look up from the paper more. Before giving my speech, I did not think this would be a challenge, but once I was actually up there with all my nerves, I found it pretty difficult, to sustain speaking without looking at my script.…

The scenario I chose to do my speech on is the Drone Regulation. My thesis I decided to use is, “Drones should be legalized in the United States.” This topic I showed the most interest in, and I believe that I have a good thesis statement. One concept from Rothwell in Chapter 15 is that it states, “Highlighting similarities in positions, values, and attitudes also encourages identification (451).” My thesis will show similarity between some people and they will agree with me.…

To be honest I was never a good public speaker there are times I avoid public speaking there are certain fears I had such as tongue tied, forgetting my lines, the awkward silence when I try to make a joke or point and by being myself blurting out words like "stuff" or "shit" unconsciously. I know it's so unprofessional but it happened quite a few times. After speaking in public I kinda dwell on what I said something that bothered me or that was unsaid.…

Expertise, or simply a hobby, what matters, in this case, is the passion we have for a specific interest. I decided to share with the class a recent interest I have for Salsa dancing. I enjoy the rhythm that allows me to embrace both upper and lower body movement, with that Latin flare. For that reason, the purpose for the assignment was to incorporate a how to basic dance step routine that could roughly define Salsa dancing. I am quite content that I communicated primarily through my hand gestures.…

The results of my PRCA-24 were a little surprising but in a good way. I got an 84 which was much higher than I thought it was going to be which I guess reflects on the fact that maybe I don 't give myself as much credit as I should when thinking about my public speaking ability. One of the things the test made me realize is that i’m more nervous in regular life than I am nervous when public speaking, because I thought about the questions if they referred to the circumstances of everyday life. I guess that’s the benefit and downside to being a performer. Watching the video was a little bit strange for me because I’m always perceiving myself differently when I’m up there, which is partly a perspective switch but also sometimes it’s also focusing…

What do I think I could have done better? I should have been more confident because I did prepare for this speech as much as I could have. My anxiety was at an all-time high with this speech because I suffer from post concussive disorder, this effects my ability to read and my short term memory. I almost gave up and asked for more time because of my disability which is something that I have never done before. However, my pride wouldn’t let me do it…

It was the Thursday before my speech that I was finally was able to get all the materials for my SHIELD, where I began work on my SHIELD. I hadn’t exactly thought everything out before I began work that night, so there were a few rough patches. First of all, all I knew is that I wanted to have a soccer ball shield. I also went on a trip with my family on Saturday and Sunday, so I couldn’t really start my SHIELD until Sunday night. This was extremely unfortunate because my SHIELD required more work than I planned on.…

Areas that I feel like I have improved in during this communications 101 course is becoming more confident in speaking in front of a small crowd, learning how to write speeches, and learning how to research and prepare for speeches. Everyone 's fear is public speaking. I avoided taking this class for the longest time just because I did not want to have to take a class where its entirety was just about speaking in front of people and doing a handful of speeches being my primary grade. I needed to take this class for when I transfer over to Arizona State University in the fall of 2017 so getting this class out of the way now at the University of Nevada was more of an ideal plan rather than taking it at ASU. This class is a core pre-requisite…

My speech went in the order it was supposed to. I started with my purpose statement, and continued on with my attention step, introduction to my topic, relation to the audience, ethos statement, and my thesis. This period was from the very beginning of my speech until about 1:00 in. I then followed with a transition into my first topic, followed by another transition, my second topic, and so on and while ending with my conclusion. Although I followed the criteria for the assignment, my organization was not the best.…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…

Viewing yourself speaking on video is never a particularly good experience, at least for me, because you notice all of the things you don’t notice when you were in the act of speaking or doing whatever was being filmed. However, watching yourself is a good way to notice your strengths and weaknesses as a public speaker. I know that I tend to look at myself more critically when I watch the recordings, but it was also interesting to see what I did and what I should change/keep the same for the future. Looking at both videos together, I noticed that my strengths included I keeping eye contact with the audience and having inflection in my voice throughout almost all of both of my speeches. I had notes to look down at while I was giving my speech…

Writing has always been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I find it difficult to put my thoughts on a paper, especially if I have to do it in another language. Some people think that as long as they can speak a language or communicate with other people, it is enough. However, these people are totally wrong. People do not only need to speak a language fluently, but they also have to be able to write it.…
