Maybe a system could be developed where you could order a vehicle from an app planning all destinations along the way allowing greater flexibility. Gone would be the days of having to get a job to pay for the multiple costs of owning a car. Millions of people would be free of the burden of car ownership and the tradeoff would be transport for the cost of a water bill. One of the main points is government oversight for transportation would save the consumer money. Citizens would save massive amounts of cash that would have gone only to the convenience of getting from one place to another. Paying for gas would end. Citizens will no longer need to take out loans or lease a vehicle for transit. Interest rates on transportation related loans would no longer exist. The cost of personal vehicle care would also no longer exist. Consumer auto insurance would be gone. Though there is the possibility of some sort of accident insurance still existing, it would cost very little and most likely never be used. Government has failed us before why should we trust them with such a massive part of our lives. We covet our freedom to travel, you could even say it’s the last true freedom, to come and go as we please. An idea like this is not an easy one to swallow, especially because our generation has known only one way of transport. We have become accustom to our cars, our personal space, a place to vent the frustrations of the world, blast loud music, and express our personality. People love their cars, sometimes unreasonably or without fully understanding why. We will as a species have to come to term with the consequences of living so freely and without thought or care for the impact it has on our world, and even our very existence. We must ask ourselves is this something we could give up for the greater good. When you put your keys in the ignition do you consider or care about the impact you have on the world? Would you let go of your keychain if you knew it would improve the quality of life around the globe? People can let go of their keys, and rejoice in the fact they have helped so much more than
