Teller explains how robots have traditionally been found working in factories where they are restricted to accomplishing a specific job. He then begins to explain how robots are more mobile than they have been in the past. He explains that robots are now more mobile and because of this are able to go places that humans haven’t been able to like volcanoes. Mr. Teller then informs the reader that more effort have been put into researching and perfecting self-driving cars. He indicates that self-driving cars would be much safer, and more energy efficient than current cars. Mr. Teller then informs the reader on all the technology that self-driving cars are comprised of. He notes that there are a lot of requirements that must be completed in order for autonomous vehicle to operate safely and effectively. He indicates that these requirements include perception, planning, control, human-robot interface, suitable platform, and drive-by-wire operation. Mr. Teller expresses that if these requirements are not met that self-driving cars will never be able to co-exists with human operated vehicles.
