Making "Black Swan" to one's own story (perhaps a tale of obsession and success) and not just an interpretation of "Swan Lake" and a reflection of sexuality.
Natalie Portman had already a small figure before her ballerina role in the film "Black Swan". In other words, there was no necessity that she should lose weight. It happened rather in the tough daily ballet training when she lost almost ten kilos. Credible as skinny ballerina but above all, she shines as an actress in this challenging role. Her fully magnetic charisma captivates from the first moment to the very last, which is rewarded her with an Oscar.
The film is well crafted, evocative and beautiful and so strong that it hurts. I would like to shake the life out of Nina. To get her to let go and dare to live, to get her to rebel against her mother without hurting herself. Not being able to do it, gives a powerless feeling. When a movie affects so powerful, then it is well made.
