Self-deception is a way of justifying or validating false beliefs about oneself to oneself. People use this method to comfort them and convince themselves that what it wrong might actually be right. This is used is when someone is in denial or wants to believe something that isn't true. We distort facts to support our particular point of view and to sustain our beliefs about the kind of person we are or want to be (Diamond). The movie The Lion King displays acts of self deception.
