Second, in similar fashion I will also do the polar opposite as my first point and evaluate my weakest part and/or element of my speech. Lastly, as I watched the speech I personally jotted down some notes to make comments purposefully for this self-critique piece and for improving myself for my next presentation , so I will highlight and expanded on those below as well. First topic I will discuss is my evaluation of my best element presented during my oral presentation. For simple contextual reference and informative view into my thought process when analyzing myself, I believe I …show more content…
First, I need to dress more professional in order to have my message delivered in a professional manner. The night before I actually had a professional meeting with some local doctors and prescribers headed by a member of the DEA and my professional attire was not timely washed and ready for reuse. I think I can improve on this my better analysis of my events in my life and better preparation in both personal and academic aspects of life as well. Another thing that really bothered me that I failed to do is greet my audience and make the feel welcome. I believe that is such an important quality for a speaker to display. I have the wonderful experiences of being around professional speakers from actors, professional athletes, my good friend Will speaks for pay at many events in the offseason, Will has introduced me to the personal life coach and motivational speaker of many college football teams and the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball club, Anthony (Tony Robbins, and many more famous people that are widely recognized popular speakers. I think I can improve on this majorly. I will soon contact these well-known successful speakers and have them help develop my speaking skills. Upon reflection, I was not happy with my video length. After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

Noah Newkirk - Your eye contact and facial expressions definitely help sell yourself because you seem very engaged with the question. It also really helps to show your confidence. Additionally, I really like your introduction and I think that it answers the initial question very effectively. This strong introduction creates a good flow going into your STAR formatted answer. For the final video, I would make sure that you aren't reading from a script because it made you lose the conversational tone and would cause you to become tripped up.…

For my informative speech, I talked about softball. I discussed the importance of gloves, finding the right bat, and the three important things when it comes to swinging the bat. I feel like my speech went pretty well. It could have been better due to the fact that when I presented I had not practiced my speech at all. I had just written out my speech on my notecards that morning before school.…

It was the Thursday before my speech that I was finally was able to get all the materials for my SHIELD, where I began work on my SHIELD. I hadn’t exactly thought everything out before I began work that night, so there were a few rough patches. First of all, all I knew is that I wanted to have a soccer ball shield. I also went on a trip with my family on Saturday and Sunday, so I couldn’t really start my SHIELD until Sunday night. After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

The first thing I noticed in my video is that I say “umm” way too often. The first time I said, “umm” in my speech was at 0:10 and continued to say it throughout my whole entire speech. I found it quite annoying when listening to myself. It is my go to word when I am nervous and it is something I really need to work on. The second thing I noticed is that I don’t look professional when giving my speech because instead of standing up straight and tall, I lean to the side and kind of stick my hip out.…

Nevertheless, I knew that I would achieve some form of catharsis if I took this assignment as seriously as a possibly could. From watching the persuasive speech, it is a recurring theme in my process of watching myself speak that I am much more sympathetic of myself after given said speech. What I immediately notice is that certain planned maneuvers such as the introduction weren’t always as clear as I wanted them to be. The flash cards that I help up might have been more effective if I had less content on them.…

In this class I learned about how to be a better team member.
