Self-Critique
In general, I felt the presentation went well, but after reviewing the video, there are a number of areas I need to improve. First of all, I started well because I presented myself to the audience, I did not have my hands in my pockets, and I was not playing around with my hands, so the first part went really well in general. The presentation was well explained, but it could have been more developed and interesting. The organization was well structured since it addressed everything it was supposed to, but it could have been better because the presentation used the ideas of the paper, and I did not implement new ones. It needed something different from the other presentation. Also, the presentation was fluid

The presentation started off good with the owner naming her business and the products that they provide. She also clearly stated what she was looking for in regards to an investment. I think she could have made this opening better by starting off with providing the solution that her product solves. She does eventually provide this information but she provides too much information. Her overview on how the company started and solution that her product provides took over 45 seconds and should have been delivered with less detail.…

The third best presentation was Teenage Drinking and Driving by Hayley Breitschuh. She made it very personal by adding the story about the crash at Stoney Creek. It was in the logos style because it gave more facts than stories and it was in the Rogerian style because the other side of the argument is completely wrong. A counter argument would be that teen drunk driving is okay because it was their decision to drink in the first place. The audience it would be for is teenagers and their…

For my biography presentation, I chose to read about the life of Olympic gymnast Gabrielle Douglas. I love doing and watching gymnastics, so I thought that this would suit me very well. I also chose to read about Gabby, because she is a phenomenal and inspirational gymnast to me and many others. This presentation took a lot of time, effort, and research to create and present to my fellow classmates.…

There are two important points for me in the video “The best me that I can be.” The first point is that students need to be aware of, taught, and participate in their IEPs and understand their disability. The second point is that Education, especially Special Education, has a language of its own. So, as teacher and specialists, we need to teach students and parents the language of Special Education.…

They used more emotionally and moral proof to try and persuade the audience. I think it was not effective because they made claims based on opinions and emotions. They really didn’t name any sources in their presentation that I can remember. I was unable to predict their arguments because they were not factual for the most part. According to the scores ours came off more factual and effective than theirs.…

Looking back at my presentation I feel that I showed empathy to my peers. When we started our presentation the audience had to answer two questions based on the assigned reading. However, out of a group of three, two of the participants were absent the previous week so they did not do the reading. Since they were apologizing to the only person in the group who now had to do all the work I decided to step up and help. I briefly joined their group to reassure them that it was okay that they did not read the article and I helped fill them in on the article so they could participate.…

Self-Reflection My presentation was effective in explaining how the forces of hydrodynamics and physics influenced the design of a surfboard. I believe that my use of an actual surfboard was the most effective component of my presentation because it gave the audience a visual representation of the structure of a surfboard, allowing them to see the parts up close. This made my presentation more understandable, creative, and interesting.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

Overall I did an excellent job, it was the longest speech of the year and I delivered the information properly. There were also many things I observed that make me want to work on for my future public speaking experiences. There are always ways to improve on a skill, no matter how good you may think you are at it. By increasing my voice volume and taking out the forbidden “um” from my messages I can start to enhance my speaking skills in a different way. I plan to take time to surpass my own expectations for my next speech by polishing the skills…
