8 December 2017 Odysseus demonstrated self-control
In this essay I will be answering the question does Odysseus have self-control. I think that Odysseus does have self-control from what I know already. He was a great war commander who lead the Greeks to their victory in the Trojan War. It was a very long war which took self-control to fight without leaving his team.
Odysseus had a family. His wife’s name was Penelope. He also had a child whose name was Telemachus. According to Homer, the names of Odysseus’ parents were Laertes and Anticleia. His grandfather was skilled at specific stuff, mainly at being a thief. His name was Autolycus. A fact about Odysseus is that “the Romans transformed his name into Ulysses …show more content…
He learned how to shoot bows when he went hunting with his family. That benefited him because when he went to the Trojan War he knew how to shoot if he had to, which he did. That was the only education he got. It was a great education for him because he had to use it.
Odysseus was a very good-looking man. He was always disguised in his look and in his voice. Odysseus would have a very long journey home after the Trojan war. He would discover a lot of stuff nobody else has seen. He would have a lot of memories about coming home. Him sailing home is a way that he demonstrated self-control.
He had to stay calm and not complain or get anxious. He had to find food which could be hard to find When no one gives it to you. He had to stay calm if he didn’t find any food or water that day. He had to stop at places to find food. It is hard to do that when you know you’re on your way home to see your family. They had to sleep on the ground which is uncomfortable and hope they would not get killed during the night. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (New international Version, 1 Peter
