The Importance Of High Blood Pressure

My husband and I were having a conversation the other morning about my mom. I was explaining that my mom had called and was very worried about her high blood pressure; she was very concerned about trying everything that typically works and was not seeing any results. She used to drink coffee to lower her blood pressure, or she would take a natural/herbal remedy and that would work. As a last resort, she went to her pharmacist and got back on some sort of high blood pressure medication. She had been on this medication for several days and her blood pressure was still over 200.

At this point my husband stopped me and said, “Honey, your mom has got to lose weight. Her blood pressure is not going to be right until she loses some of that weight!” I then told him to just wait a second until he hears the rest of the story. It seems as if they both love to have her sympathy and attention for every little bump in the road more than thinking of how all of this bad news affects her.

Since Kyle and I have been married over 20 years, he is already very aware of all of my family members and their three (desired, perceived, and presenting) selves! I finished the end of our conversation by telling him that I spent 30 minutes on the phone with my mom reminding her that my brother is 44 and my sister is 35. My mom can’t do anything about a surgery that my sister has or what my brother is smoking, nor does she owe my brother an explanation for taking any blood pressure medication! I also reminded her that all of this drama is hurting her heart and won’t change anything for the better.
