One of my employees came to me asking about reimbursement options for a customer that he was working with. I was so busy at the time, that rather than asking what the specific situation was that warranted a reimbursement, I quickly explained the steps my employee would take for each common reimbursement scenario. When he came to me for approval later, he had completed steps for each reimbursement scenario, rather than completing only the steps for the appropriate reimbursement. Because of the interference of my other tasks, I provided information that was not clear to my employee.
