The students are pulled out of the classroom for their services, and Miss Severson working with the students for about twenty minutes a day in a small group (Miss Severson, personal communication, November 4, 2016). Response to Intervention is a three tier support system for the students, and depending on what services the student’s need they will be placed in one, two, or three tier. I have never heard of this term before, I like this form of assessment because it is a formative assessment. This form of assessment determines how well the students understand the material that is being taught at that time. Whereas, the summative assessment, is an end of the unit assessment, and is an accumulation of all the material that was taught in a certain unit. Going back to the diagnostic interview, to me this assessment would probably make the students comfortable when it comes to testing because they are having a conversation with the teacher, and still being put on the spot, but on with a written test. I have observed Miss. Severson do this with her students, but with sighting words.
Using technology for reading can be very beneficial for the students because there are many educational games available to them. Playing these games can help build vocabulary by hearing how the word is pronounced, by seeing how the word is spelt, and seeing how the word is used in a sentence. I am getting used to seeing how technology is used in the classroom, but I am also becoming more accepting of it by seeing how beneficial it is to the students’ education. Technology can be used to for any subject or concept and can be very beneficial for the
