Self Care Deficit Model Paper

Dorothea Orem's Self Care Deficit Model closely resembles my current beliefs about nursing. I think, for the most part, our health capacity is measured by how well we care for ourselves. We are all self-governing individuals and responsible for our own health care choices and actions. It's when we have or develop a self-care deficit that things gets out of whack. Whether it's from a lack of understanding and education or blatantly make the wrong decisions. When the right decisions are made this exudes superior health and the ability to move forward on our path of growth and development. With this being said, I do believe that there are obvious exception for some elderly and the cognitively impaired.
