Best Thing that Happened at your Site
I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge and experience, since starting my internship at the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Learning the skills necessary to function as a competent social worker at DFCS has had its advantages. These advantages include having the opportunity to observe a social worker in the field, with the freedom to ask questions and get a clear understanding of policies and procedures. This is the best thing about my site. There are a number of people I have connected with that are always available to address any concerns that I may have regarding a case or client. Having these connections gives me confidence and assurance at my site.
Things you like Least at Your Site
Witnessing the impact of child abuse and/or neglect and their prevalence in today’s society is one of the least things I like about my site. Although this is my least favorite part concerning my site, I am increasing my experience and ability to deal with these types of …show more content…
I have been fortunate to be on the receiving end of constructive criticism. This criticism came from my field instructor and she criticized me because I did not sign in and out appropriately and for not following up with her when I have been out for a long period of time with my social worker. She explained that she is responsible for me, while I am at the facility doing my internship. She was not hostile when she spoke to me, however she was unquestionably serious and intense when she spoke to me. I honestly appreciate her taking the time out to talk with me in reference to the importance of me signing in and out. She understood that in a busy workplace, such as DFCS, it is easy to lose track of time, nevertheless it is imperative to always be accountable for my time away from the
