Intelligence is defined as the ability to understand, learn, plan and solve the problems. Emotional intelligence is related to the individual’s emotion. The ability to recognize, understand and manage the emotions of an individual as well as the emotions of others is termed as emotional intelligence. It is one of the most important quadrants in emotional intelligence. Being a leader it is important to hide the problems and weakness. Rather than solving the weakness and problems, we all try to hide it. The person who tries to hide weaknesses actually highlights them, creating the perception of the lack of integrity and self-awareness. I have got an above average score in self awareness (6 marks) from the emotional intelligence questionnaire. It shows that there are so many things I need to improve my self-awareness. The biggest challenge, which I face in self-awareness, is the lack of thinking positive. Failures will come in life and we have to learn from it to reach the success. Learning from the past experiences from the life of successful managers will give motivation for moving forward. Aware of the past is the best way for self-awareness. A mind to accept the worst is a necessary for self-awareness. Instead of hiding the weakness, it is better to solve the problems and weakness. Social awareness is a part of emotional intelligence. As the name implies, social awareness means that being aware of the problems faced by different communities in the society. It is on day today basis. According to Daniel Goleman the competencies associated with being socially aware are empathy, organizational awareness and services. Empathy means understanding other person’s emotions, needs and concerns. Organizational awareness understands the politics within the organization. Service is to meet the demands of the customers and to make sure their satisfaction. I got an above average score as per the questionnaire in social awareness. It says that I need to improve in social awareness. To improve the social awareness I need to know much about the dynamics of social relationships between individuals, groups and communities. Have to value the human rights and understand the importance of harmonious social interaction for the developmental progress of human beings. Developing the social skills in childhood and encompass the level of social conciousnous which leads to social activism and societal transformation. There are many other ways to improve the social awareness. It includes considering the needs of individuals and groups examine your role in conflicts, ensuring social justice and harmony, educate us on social issues
