I’m no stranger to this practice. Starting in early middle school, I started shadowing my dentists, and as I moved towards my later high school years, I was part of an internship with a local professional in the field, and shadowing was a substantial portion of the time I spent working with him. I haven’t done much shadowing in recent years due to time constraints, and I have not compiled the entirety of the time I have invested in shadowing into one document, which is something I plan on doing in the near future as I begin to do some more shadowing. My goal for this area is have at least 250 hours by my application time, hopefully above that with the amount of past experience I have had. I have many different hobbies and passions, and I plan to act on each of my interests to the greatest extent. Simply doing what I enjoy doing and receiving recognition and respect for these passions is the greatest way that I can diversify my application. Doing what I love to do is the best way to show that I am a complex applicant, because instead of trying to find what extracurricular activities they see frequently or “prefer”, I just have to be myself, which is much simpler to do.
