Self-Assessment
Overall, I think I did very great on my speech. This is the only speech that I felt comfortable presenting. I knew what I was talking about and my topic was related to the class. From the speech evaluation forms, the whole class thought I did very good on my topic, the thesis, and also supported the topic with great details. I agree with them on that because I had to do a lot of research to find all the sources I used. These are some of the some I did strongly, I gave good examples, use of emotion, very knowledgeable on the subject, used data very well and also gave a confidence speech as well as convinced people about the topic. I gave good example for the listeners to feel more connect to the topic and feel it. I also used my emotion to convinced them that donating blood save a life and gives a second chance to a child or a person. The use of words was very clear and vivid to the listeners so they can remember what I said after concluding. With all the good things listed, I also need to focus on working on these thing in order to get a little better at giving speech.

I totally agree with what they said because as I was presenting I felt like I was forgetting some words. Which lead to my saying of “ums” and the repetition of words. I also didn’t use visual aid because I forget it on my bed. Like I said before, every time I feel nervous, I tend to stumbles a little which makes my repeat myself and sometimes a shaky voice. After watching the video of myself on YouTube, I found out that I was not completing my sentence. I have also learned that move my body more often when I am behind the podium. All these are some of the things I will need to work on in order to give a great speech. I mean not all speeches can be great as far as you present with confidence and conclude with a great

I had many highlights such as the video, and how I seemed confident when speaking, but there were some minor things that need to be improved for future speeches. One thing that I noticed when I watched my speaking video was that my legs were crossed and I did not stand up straight. Whenever you perform a speech you always want to have good posture and, not be leaning on something. I also noticed that I confused carbon dioxide with carbon monoxide in my speech. It was a slight mix up since the two are completely different.…

In future presentations I plan to restate questions that people ask me so others can here the question followed by the answer. Some of my answers were not worded well. I could have worded them better because I had more information than I utilized at the present time. In the future I need to actually think about the questions asked before answering, instead of just stating the first solution that comes to my head. Lastly, the outline points which were in the presentation, could have been stronger.…

Report on methods of initial assessment used by my organisation, within the college our students undertake assessments at different stages. The first one will be at the interview, where the subject tutor will check prediction for GCSE against the criteria needed for the course. During the interview process, the interviewer gets an idea as well on student’s verbal communication and motivation for the course. Then it will be an online initial assessment after the enrolment of the student, but usually few weeks before the start of the course. It tends to happen at the wrong time of the year in my opinion, students are asked to come during the summer after a stressful year with GCSE’s and usually come to college to do the online test in English…

When presented with this assignment at the beginning of the semester, I was concerned because speaking in front of people is an area that I feel is not a strength; however, after delving into the material that I used in my speech, the importance of one’s level of knowledge when speaking was reiterated. Because I was very familiar with my topic as well as very passionate about the affect it has on students, I was more confident in my delivery. Even though I felt confident, I still started off my speech with nerves. This is why I had a point taken off of my final score, so Ms. Gibson noticed, and I also noticed in the video as well.…

My informative speech was about the history of cameras. My original idea was to do how to take a good selfie, but half way into doing research about it, I realized that it was super hard to find different tips and information about how to take a good selfie. Most of the information I found was the same so I got the idea about the history of cameras because I had a couple really old cameras at home. I did really enjoy finding out about cameras and how they became a thing. I also thought about cameras because I thought about what things I enjoyed doing…

This write-up focusses on three concepts of sound assessment practice namely reliability, feasibility and educational impact. Reliability Reliability refers to the ‘reproducibility’, ‘repeatability’ or ‘consistency’ of the scores obtained from an assessment (Memon et al, 2010; van der Vleuten et al, 2005). Reliability is generally expressed as a coefficient ranging from 0 (no reliability) to 1 (perfect reliability). Since it is difficult to achieve perfect reliability in any assessment, a reliability coefficient of 0.80 is regarded as the minimal acceptable value. However, the value could be lower or higher depending on the stake of the examination, with a higher stake examination such as licencing examination requiring a higher reliability…

During my process of creating my first speech there were a lot of mixed emotions from the thrill of being able to choose a topic that I get to dive into and learn, to the anxiety that filled me when it came to speech day. Reviewing my feelings towards this assignment and watching my final work come to life I can see the spots that I predicted would do well and the spots that I psyched myself out on failing. Of course my thoughts and anxiety got the best of me and although preparing up to the faithful speech day went really well, my execution needs a lot of work. Reviewing my topic for a specific purpose I did struggle a little bit with it. How does one narrow down such a big topic?…
