Self-Assessment and Goal Progress Reflection
Effective leaders conduct leadership self-assessments in order to progress towards goals (Grossman & Valiga, 2012). Whereas, in Unit 3, a self-assessment of knowledge and skills was completed with goals for improving competencies, Unit 10 requires one to look behind while also looking to what lies ahead for one’s own nursing career. This discussion will be a reflection of the degree the goals were achieved, the resource that helped achieve the goals, and in what ways the knowledge has been incorporated into practice.
Communication and Relationship Management
Looking behind while looking to what lies ahead, the goals set for the critical domain of communication and relationship management improved from 3.8 to 4.0.

Evaluating one’s progress towards the communication, relationship management, and leadership skills is necessary if one is to achieve the strategic goal statement, C.L.A.I.M, collaborate, lead, appreciate, inquire, and motivate. Finally, the advancing of innovation, integrity, performance, compassion, and relationships while extending knowledge of clinical claims review to transplant case managers requires mentorship (UnitedHealth Group, 2017)
A high performance team of five clinical claims review nurses and one manager reached higher, beyond the status quo and uncovered new ways to serve. “Excellence can be attained if you care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical, and expect more than others think is possible” (Grossman & Valiga, 2012, p. 214). The result is members receiving accurately processed claims for the services that are clinically related to transplant and the health care authorizations needed for payment appropriation based on plan
