Roles
When thinking about the main task role that I played, I would have to say it is the energizer. Everyone in our group has has been very positive towards each other at all times and very focused on motivating others around us, but I feel that this was definitely my group role. I was constantly giving positive comments to people in my group and their ideas. Even though one of my group task roles was the energizer, I was more than just a “team cheerleader.” I was also the elaborator in my group because I feel that I have great with helping explain ideas or certain projects that we were required to do. I remember explaining to Carter and Maddie about what we are supposed to do for our final projects. When thinking about

We had a few struggles with getting everyone to meet sometimes as well as a few disagreements in class about where we wanted to do our volunteer work, but even with those challenges we were able to get through that and achieve our common goal.
Adapting to change wasn’t very difficult because I feel our group was the same all year long. We got along with each other from the start and all worked equally as hard to achieve all of our goals. It was a great group to be with and all of us made this year very easy for each other. There weren’t any moments where people didn’t show up to our group meetings or didn’t respond to texts. It was very easy to adapt to this group and really enjoyed our time together.
The influence of size wasn’t negative in any sort of way. It was big enough where you didn’t have to have a lot of one on one time with others, but still small enough to get to know everyone very well. Having five members was very helpful to me because I needed help understanding the material sometimes, so it was nice having that many people to ask for help.

Usually in the group there is someone that doesn't hold up their end and you have to do their work for them, but really everyone in the group played their part. One of the challenges we did face, just like every other group is timing. We made use of our time together, but the problem was actually finding time to meet together. Carter, Maddie, and Daliana all had jobs to work on the weekend so it was hard to get everyone together at once. Also our time management was a little off because we were almost late to the escape room and showed up late to almost all of the meetings. Even though our timing was a little off, our individual member behavior was all very positive. Nobody failed to meet any of their responsibilities, everyone was very positive and helpful at all times, and even though our timing was an issue, everyone attended all of the meetings. There were a lot more advantages in our groups then there were

I had never received education in the united states so it was kind scaring for me to attend the on line class with Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) Group Project. I was worried about I may not attend the group well and involve others into trouble. I am surprised that I did good in the group. It is a good experience to work with others who have different culture and I did learn something new from the CLC group project. The problem was we had schedule and it was hard to contact people right away and everyone had their own opinions and points so communication was a very important element to deal with the project.…

I got the opportunity to do my internship at Houston Methodist West Hospital. I have been working for Methodist for the past 4 years in our registration department and out of those four years, I have had the opportunity to work with 3 different management teams. Although, each of my management teams delivered different methods on how to properly register a patient under 7 min or less, our goal we have always strived for was keeping our patient satisfaction scores at a high. Our organization implemented a strategy called AIDET, (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank you) to make this process work effectively. As our patient were very impressed with our ICARE values, (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence)…

During the “Controlling Chagas in the Southern Cone of South America” case study, my main responsibility and role was in constructing the Powerpoint Presentation with one other member. I began the project initially by reading the case study, “Controlling Chagas in the Southern Cone of South America”, in the textbook “Case Studies in Global Health: Millions Saved” by Ruth Levine. The case study gave me a broad yet detailed overview of the Chagas disease, control and elimination efforts over the last 100 years, and more importantly it discusses the success and details of the Southern Cone Initiative (INSOCUR). I constructed an outline of the Chagas according to the case study. I began by outlining what Chagas disease and how it is spread.…

I faced the internal struggle of being a good group member and being a good student. I struggled with communicating the urgency of completing the project to the rest of the group and not annoying everyone on the group chat. In the end, this challenge was solved by my fellow group members completing (thankfully and barely) before the deadline. If I could do the project over I would be less passive aggressive and talk to my group members about completing the work together to get it done earlier. Looking past all of my complaints and challenges this group assignment proved to be helpful and educational.…

One intervention that I would implement if I was the leader of this group would be to work with the students to identify referral services for any members that may need it. A lot of the members disclosed some heavy things about themselves and I think it would be important to refer them as necessary. Another intervention I would use would be to assist the students in dealing with any feelings they have about the termination of the group. The students kind of did this on their own, but I think that it would be beneficial to have had a leader there to help them further explore those feelings. Despite the fact that the students are sad to leave each other, it is clear that they have all grown significantly and have learned something about themselves through their Saturday…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…

The team members were friendly that we became friends that were able to help each other even in other subjects. Every member was always ready to assist whenever one of us was facing some difficulties concerning the project. Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…

We all tried, but I think some of us took the project more seriously than others. Kevin was always late to our meetings event though when we created the team contract we agreed to be punctual unless there was an emergency. I doubt that there was an emergency every single week when we met. I think Amy and myself did most of the work, we had to assign work for Kevin and Shaohui to do otherwise they would not take the initiative to do something unless we asked them to do it which was frustrating because Kevin was supposed to be the project manager and it was his responsibility to make sure that we were doing our part and being the leader of the team. I am not saying that it was all his responsibility because we are all adults and can do our part, but what I am saying is that they were not behaving as adults.…

For me, it’s not easy working with others because I like to take ownership of my work. It was a great experience to see the importance of the synergies that were created, as effective division of work and proper communication made a very big project manageable. Also, completely reading the instructions is an important lesson the we learned and can take anywhere. While we were confident about our material in the presentation, we didn’t follow the guidelines well, which hurt us. Trust is a huge part about working in groups, and I gained this trust through interaction with my team members, as well as success early on in the project.…
