It is common for organisations to choose a more efficient and cheaper ways to achieve goals in business. Data and information are both equally important in business organisation. The usage of technology is increasing when it comes to capture, store and share information throughout the organisation. There are more organisations now are keenly aware that the usage effectiveness of information technology (IT) can have a competition in the marketplace. In his best-selling book, Business at the Speed of Thoughts, Bill Gates (2001) mentions, "Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. Established in 1930 near the North-east region of the green city, the club not only provides recreational activities and facilities, it strives to protect and enhance the natural habitat with flora and fauna. Since the nature of the club is more countryside, some of the current running system which SCC implemented is backdated which results in inefficiency. The usage of information technology is practiced with availability of computers, emails and their official website. However, the club is still practicing the usage of paper for transaction and managing information of club members currently. Their Membership Department has been looking into alternative ways of improving their information management system and the easy access information flow throughout other departments in the club. The demographic club members (shown in Figure 1.1 below) show that about 85% of their occupation is Executive level and higher. Consider the IT ecosystem in the club is made up of multiple devices such as computers, emails, fax machine and printers data there are areas which the club could improve with the presence of IT. IT has the opportunity and capability to deliver a net positive impact by amending the existing business models (Aguilera et al, 2011). In this case, SCC has to adapt new process in order to improve its organisation operational performances in terms of speed, quality, cost and flexibility. Even with technology and IT introduced, SCC practise paper-based system where club members are issued plastic membership card with a printed ID photo, full name and membership number. SCC members have to present their membership card every time whenever they inquire to apply for golfing flight, facility booking and purchase of food and beverages in the club restaurant. SCC staffs will then write down club members particulars on a debit note receipt, a paper document. The receipts will then be collected at every month end and passed to the Membership Department to transfer the information and update them into the desktop computer. Currently, the information of the club members is transferred and stored using Excel spreadsheet after which the information will then be access and retrieve by other department for their perusal.
