The film recounts the brief life of Selena Quintanilla Perez (Jennifer Lopez), a life that was built around her father's broken dreams. Her father (Edward James Olmos) had himself had a band in his youth called "Los Dinos". Now a married man with children, his dreams have stalled along the wayside. She was very well cast and this movie is very inspirational. I don't remember Selina when she was popular, but she must have been a very nice person. I think this film represents the struggle of Latin artists in America, and who knew that Lopez would become like the biggest Latina artist in the world. "Selena" is a biography worth seeing and then some. Featured are adorable characters, exquisite performances, a believable and historical plot line, and a lot of irresistible idyllic chemistry.
