Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Prince, and Journey. All of these artists have one thing in common, they are “alive”. Whether you grew up listening to the songs and lyrics that these people have provided or your parents force you to listen to their music, almost everyone knows these artists. The test of time is a phrase used to describe if something or someone will be remembered in following years. The real question is, what current musicians will stand the test of time?

There is a multitude of artists in the music industry that are worthy of passing the test of time. Although, there are three musicians that we believe will pass the test and be remembered for many years to come. These three artists are Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez``, and Beyoncé. While working on the second season of Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez recorded a cover of the song, “Cruella de Vil”. Soon after this, she recorded more songs for different movies. When Selena was 16, she signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records Label, which had already signed Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. She then formed the band Selena Gomez and the Scene. According to wikipedia, within her first week of sales Selena sold 66,000 copies. In her recently released album, she had made 117,000 sales in one week. As you can see, her sales are progressively increasing. If this would continue to happen her sales could be very high in the future. However, since she hasn’t released as many albums as other artist have, she may not pass the test of time. Although, since it looks like she is more behind than other artists, this is because she did not start her singing career as soon as other artists. Throughout Selena’s career, her music has been introduced to many different genres. From this it opens up more opportunities to expand her musical
