District Selection Process

Selection of any school personnel is a great responsibility, especially one at the district office level. This process will involve many different stakeholders and will be conducted with the goal of finding an individual who meets the current needs of the district. One unfavorable factor will be the lack of time provided to find the best possible candidate, and it will be a challenge to the selection committee to not rush the process or select an unsuitable candidate simply to fill the position. Therefore, all timelines provided will be dependent on finding a candidate that meets the needs of the district. If a suitable candidate is not found within the timeframe provided, the district has an option of hiring someone temporarily, restarting the process, or postponing the search, …show more content…
The subcommittee will conduct background checks, contact references, and assess applications objectively by using rating scales to score candidates. The goal of this subcommittee is to narrow down the applicants to a final list of 4-6 (ideal) who will then be invited in for formal interviews. Due to the timeliness of the search process, it will be doubtful that 4-6 applicants will be qualified to make the interview round, therefore, the number of applicants asked to come in for interviews will be determined by the number of suitable applicants.
Step 6: Interview (September 2nd – September 5, Week 8)
Applicants will be scheduled for a series of structured interviews conducted by groups of stakeholders. This system of checks and balances helps to make sure the interview process is fair and equitable. For this particular position, the interviews will be conducted by the following groups of people:
• Teachers
• Principals
• District
