A selco system consists of a panel, a battery and a charge regulator. It can power low voltage appliance such as lights, fan, television sets, mobile chargers and radios. The solar panel’s batteries get charged during the day and store the energy- which allows the system to keep functioning for about 12 hours without being recharged. It is eco-friendly in other aspects too: a system using, say, three solar lights cuts kerosene usage by four to six liters a month and thereby reduces tones of carbon dioxide emission over 20 yrs., says SELCO

Rogers emphasizes that, “…Within five to seven years people can save enough money on electric bills to match the cost of a Blue Ion system.” Because the solar panels can last up to 20 years, they will save nearly double the cost compared to expanding energy from the power grid. In addition, these savvy photovoltaic cells use Sony lithium phosphate batteries allow for a reputable electrical density and demand no cool down time. Unlike most photovoltaic systems used for residential use, which use net metering, or the ability to ambidextrously alternate between the solar panel’s energy supply and the local grid, Roger’s solar array was sufficient to continuously supply and store enough power for the entire house. Solar arrays prove, in the long run, that they can not only compensate for their titanic cost, but also save thousands of…

To say that the United States is too dependent on it’s fossil fuels is a massive understatement. It is often difficult to picture our lives without fossil fuels, because around 90% of the world’s electricity demand comes from the use of them (IER 2005). With this being said, if we want to provide the generations long after we are gone with sustainable, renewable, and environmentally appropriate (clean) energy, we certainly have to make big changes. These changes have already started but are understandably developing at a slower than we’d like pace. It was only a few years ago that electrically-powered cars…
