The film starts with Natalie, who is driving when a rockslide causes her car to go off the edge of a cliff. A rescue team is flown in to save her, the team is lead by Ray. The team is eventually able to save Natalie. Dr. Lawrence Hayes is asked by his friend Dr. Kim Park to check some seismic activity at the Hoover Dam. Ray receives a divorce notice from his wife Emma, they have a daughter Blake together. Dr. Hayes and Dr. Park arrive at the Hoover Dam. They realize a large earthquake is happening while they are there. Dr. Hayes is able to make it to safety but Dr. Park dies trying to save a little girl. Dr. Hayes and his team soon detect and even larger earthquake that is going to happen at the San Andreas Fault. Another large earthquake hits
