“Welcome to LAX.” 18 year old DrewMichelle Haughton read the big sign hanging on one of the many white walls to herself silently. That 5 hour flight from New York to California really took a toll on her. Exhausted wasn’t even the word for her at the moment. She was physically drained.…

The words that are typed on this paper do not begin to describe the experience or the feeling in which I encountered today. Describing the place and all its elements would not be enough. La Ventana De Los Cielos is place outside of the norm. One could say, it’s a place of no judgment, where people are free. I knew I was going to have a great day even before I we got inside the farm.…
I hear the familiar sound of my ebony curtains scraping against the cold, steel rod they're hanging on. The dark washes away with warm sunlight. It floods my room and drowns my face, causing my eyes to bunch up in discomfort. "Get up, Kelsey. The movers will be here at 12:00.…
WHIRRR… The x-ray machine did a thorough scan on my hurting right elbow. When I saw the machine’s data, I threw up a little in my mouth. The results were not pretty as it looked like something crawled out of a dumpster and got run over. My parents had always told me to be careful, and I wished I had listened to their warnings.…
I was told by s/g Vera to go to Boneyard and check if s/g Robert was still sleeping. As I was instructed I went to Boneyard site and found out s/g was sleeping. In order to wake him up, I hank the horn of my car two times, I shut and start the engine of my car two times. I light my flash light on his face. I drove back and forth, made the volume of my radio high and open the window of the car.…
It's January 2, 1994; the air is freezing as he breathes it in, and the sun seems to have forgotten to come out this morning. As the snow whirls around the frigid air under the dark sky, the 21 year old lawyer, Sean finally reaches the door of the airport. Sean, who has spent the last week in France for a vacation before the holidays, is exhausted and longing to be home with his family back in Chicago, Illinois. Sean got to the baggage and security lines around 6:30 this morning, completely drained, he zones out. As he is quietly waiting in line he tries to make sense of what is going on around him, nothing seems to be particularly out of place; something just feels off to him.…
Sitting here delayed at Tulsa International Airport, and I think to myself how this wedding came to be. J.P. was stationed at Ram stein Air Force Base in Germany when my mom had a heart attack. He wanted to be here for her so bad, but the military would not let come home. He was told he would have to change his field of work in order to get shipped back to the United States. He put in for a job transfer from a Bio-Tech (Bio-Environmental Engineer), someone who checks the purity and cleanliness of water, for various reasons.…

“I can’t believe we finally get to see him!” I said as I walked quickly towards the huge airport. It was a hot Thursday afternoon in San Antonio, the date exactly was November 21, 1963. “The New York International airport is amazing isn’t it?” my husband John Connally asked as he led me into one of the giant open doors.…
My family and our really close friends, the Krafts, were going to Anna Maria Island with us. We go there for spring break every year. It wasn’t just spring break that week, it was also the week of my birthday, April 4th. Near the end of the school day I was beyond happy, I couldn't wait to head to Anna Maria Island. My last class of the day had finally ended, I got on the bus and rode home.…
The misty night sky seemed to look back at me, while I lied upon my fleece blanket. As I was lying there I had an epiphany. I want to go Jamaica. I had always thought that it would be a really exoctic place to visit and I felt like I needed a break from all of this chaos here. I just need to get away from everything.…
Fear of Flying As I walked through the terminal I feel the dread from buying the plane ticket loom on my shoulders. I wanted to turn back and run. My anxiety builds up as the line slowly creeps forwards to the beginning of the corridor. As I near, I see people getting on the plane.…
My experience of stress can be best described as a rollercoaster, steadily climbing and once at the top it can plunge down and back up and to the left and to the right, almost as if the stress is controlling the ride. Stress has changed over the years as well. My early childhood life didn’t include the worry of life, but the concern of self. I grew up as a very shy individual and was constantly scared to talk or speak in many situations. I am not sure how or why I was a shy individual, but it was a big stressor during my early development.…
