I awoke to a blaring sound coming from downstairs, my parents left me alone for the night; I knew that they were not here. I hesitantly got out of bed and reached for my firearm and flashlight. As soon as I had them in my hands a sense of security had overcome me, until I headed out of my bedroom door. As I reached for the door knob, my heart began to race, my throat became dry, my palms were sweaty and my knees were weak, arms heavy. The door opened, a cold breeze hit my body and chills traveled over most of my body. My hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I thought the house contained no one, but I knew that someone had gotten inside. The walk down the stairs felt as if time stood still. Once I reached my room, I locked my door and headed for bed. My dog usually slept under my bed, it became a habitat for her to do so. However, as I grew mentally stronger, I began to understand more adequately. One day, I became in contact with a dog and unknowingly became somewhat attached to its form. It was daylight, and there was a medium sized tan colored dog located in a dark corner of the patio. It had a red bow tie on its neck and was latched by a rusty chain to its triangular dog house. I noticed that the dog 's body was probably dirty from staying in the moist and muddy ground.…

As I slowly walked toward the door, the floors creaked in terror, the only thing that was on my mind was if the door was locked. I put my hand on the round, freezing cold, door knob and turned it to the right hoping to God that it doesn't end up being locked. I pulled the door with confidence that only lasted for a good 2 seconds after I realized the door wouldn't open. All my emotions were tied together as a flood of negativity overtook my mind. I tried again and once again I failed, with anger I hit the door while still holding the knob to the right and the door open.…

Years later, I was a journalist in London when I was asked to report on a case about a criminal mental patient, Bryan, who was petitioning to get released. So I caught a train to Broadmoor – London’s premier mental institution for the criminally insane. I began to yawn uncontrollably on the way there, which apparently is what dogs do when anxious - they yawn uncontrollably. Once I arrived, the staff took me through gate after gate until, eventually, we got to the wellness center – the place where you get to meet the patients. It looks eerily like nice but not so nice hotel.…

Squee...? “It was a dark and stormy night…” “aw come on that’s so clique” my friend Zack said as he interrupted my story, and all of the sudden, as I was about to reply, we heard my mom’s dog whimpering as if the dog saw an unholy demonic creature crawling at the dog at the speed of light. Zack and I became afraid, we both knew that my mom’s dog, Bigge, isn’t afraid of nothing, as Bigge would be a cold blooded killer, that would kill anyone that he doesn’t know. Zack was curious, but I was worried, what will happen, what if going downstairs was a mistake, or… what if we die?…
