Sect Church Cycle Research Paper

The sect church cycle is a process that states that all religions start off as sects. Sects are a group of people with different religious views of a larger already established religions. Some examples of famous religious sects are Baptists or Lutherans. They are sects of the religion Christianity. They pretty much smaller branches of the major religion that believe slightly different things than the major religion. Baptists, for example believe that Baptism should be performed only for professing believers. Also that it must be completely immersion for it to be a true Baptism. Even though this is not a major difference, it is a difference so that is why Baptism is considered a sect. If only a few practices are different then making a church around that sect in not too difficult. Baptism, for example only believes in a few differences so masses for it would only have a slight few changes. Cults however, deny some fundamental principles of a religion which make them hard to make churches around. It is harder enough for people of a certain religion to adapt a slight difference in how things may be done, it is another all together to change the foundation of a religion and except people to be willing to follow it. It would be hard to convince a Christian that Jesus was not the son of God but still expect them to believe the rest of the practices of Christianity. The sect church cycle shows that social change only requires a different idea from the norm to start something big. There are many people who have ideas that that may keep to their selves, but when they find out others share the belief then they are willing to back it. If you can find enough people who believe in a different way of thinking, you can start to change the minds of people which will lead to a
