Dialogue Essay: I Am The Best Player On The Soccer Team

Sixteen year old Jay stormed into the kitchen where his mother was preparing dinner and yelled.
Jay: It is not fair, I am the best player on the soccer team!
Jay’s mother dropped everything and immediately ran up to him, wiping her hands in her apron. She gently and lovingly put her hand on his shoulder.
Mrs. Blue: What is it son?
Jay: It is dad, mom. He told me that I am grounded for a whole month, which means that I will not be able to practice with my soccer team and worst of all I won’t be able to play the first two games, I am the best player on the team, mom! (Jay started to cry uncontrollably).
Mrs. Blue: Why did your dad ground you?
Jay: He told me not to go to the mall with my friends after school today and I went.
Mrs. Blue: I am sure there is something we can do, so that you can still go to soccer practice and that way you will be able to play.
Jay: That is not all, mom. I also used dad’s credit card and brought a new Nike cleats that I always wanted.
Mrs. Blue: Jay! How did you get your father’s credit card?
Jay: He left it in the glove compartment in the car, Mom.

After the father grounded their son for being disobedient and for stealing, his mother sided with him and made it seems as if the father was being mean to their son. The mother had stop talking to her husband. According to out textbook, “the presence of a cross-generational coalition is viewed as particularly disruptive to the functioning of the family.
