Secrets In The Book Thief

Why is it that secrets emerge? Are they to protect one another or are they there for deeper meaning? Relationships are important however secrets can affect them as they will break trust which is an essential essence that holds a successful relationship together.

There were many tragedies in the second world war which included many deaths. Hiding a Jew in the second world war was a crime which resulted in death. In the Book Thief, a German family decides to break the trust of the Nazis in result affecting the relationship with each other negatively. He was extremely lucky that he was not caught while the soldiers were examining the basement but what would happen if the Jew was found in the basement? The relationships between that Nazis and Hans would instantly deteriorate as Hans broke the trust. It is because of these reasons that there are rules which prevents secrets from happening.

In The Book Thief, Ilsa Hermann, the wife of the German woman decided to bond with a girl who was of a lower social class and therefore was shamed by her husband, the mayor. This is another example of how keeping secrets will be worse if it is not told earlier. Having someone discover a secret is much worse than coming out and admitting
